UPDATE!

27 dresses!

So I just got to see 27 Dresses the other night. I actually bought it from Target for $16.99. Let me just say that it was COMPLETELY WORTH the money that I spent. The movie is adorable with a lot of spunk and humor in it. It actually had my boyfriend laughing more than I. I really just fell in love with the whole theme of the movie. Plus, I was shocked by the ending! How many romantic comedies are shocking? They are always predicatable with the woman ending up with the guy she has been in love with for years. NOT THIS ONE! However, even though she does not, the movie has a perfect ending. I give this movie 5 stars, right up there with How to Lose a Guy in Ten days. All that I can say is SEE IT! Rent it, buy it, or borrow it from me!

The Pretty Dress

So we all know romantic comedies always have that one scene where the beautiful girl is wearing a gorgeous dress. Who's dress did you find most attractive?

How to Lose a Guy In Ten Days
Kate Hudson : How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days

Ann Hathaway : Princess Diaries

27 dresses- movie buff
Katherine Higal : 27 dresses

pretty woman
Julia Roberts : Pretty Woman

I am sure there are tons more dresses. If you have any suggestions on who should also be nomintated in the vote just let me know with an easy comment!

When Harry Met Sally... is a 1989 American film written by Nora Ephron, and directed by Rob Reiner. The romantic comedy stars Billy Crystal as Harry and Meg Ryan as Sally. The film follows the title characters from the time they meet on a carpool ride from the University of Chicago to New York, through the next twelve years or so of chance encounters in New York City. The film raises the question "Can men and women ever just be friends?" and advances many ideas about love that have become household concepts now, such as the "high maintenance"[1] girlfriend and the "transitional person".[2]
The origins of the film came from Reiner's return to single life after a divorce. Ephron interviewed Reiner and it provided the basis for Harry. Sally was based on Ephron and some of her friends. Crystal came on board and made his own contributions to the screenplay, making Harry funnier. Ephron supplied the structure of the film with much of the dialogue based on the real-life friendship between Reiner and Crystal. The soundtrack consists of standards performed by Harry Connick, Jr., with a big band and orchestra arranged by Marc Shaiman. Connick won his first Grammy for Best Jazz Male Vocal Performance.
Columbia Pictures released the film using the "platform" technique, which involved opening it in a few select cities letting positive word of mouth generate interest and then gradually expanding distribution over subsequent weeks. When Harry Met Sally... grossed a total of US$92 million in North America, well above its $16 million budget. Ephron received a British Academy Film Award, an Oscar nomination, and a Writers Guild of America Award nomination for her screenplay. The film is 23rd on AFI's 100 Years... 100 Laughs list of the top comedy films in American cinema and number 60 on Bravo's "100 Funniest Movies". In early 2004, the film was adapted for the stage in a production starring Luke Perry and Alyson Hannigan.

Maid of Honor vs My Best Friend's Wedding

I know another post was already made about Maid of Honor by Cam, but has anyone also noticed that Maid of Honor just seems like My Best Friend's Wedding (another romantic comedy staring Julia Roberts) in reverse?

I have not yet seen Maid of Honor so I cannot totally confirm my point but from the previews it seems just like the same movie only with a guy instead of a girl.

My Best Friend's Wedding, for those who have not seen it, is about a woman named Julianne Potter (Julia Roberts) is best friend's with a man named Michel O'Neal (Dermot Mulroney) who has just decided to get married to a young, 20 year old woman named Kimberly (Cameron Diaz). Kim asks Julianne to be her Maid of Honor despite only knowing her for a few days. Julianne becomes jealous and tries to break up the wedding in order to get her best friend back for herself.

Now doesn't this seem like Maid of Honor? This is about a man named Tom Baily (Patrick Dempsey) who is in love with his best friend Claire. Claire has recently decided to marry a man named Colin. Claire asks Tom Baily to be her Maid of Honor. Tom must find out if he really wants to be with Claire or not.

hmm.. what do you think? same movie just roles reversed?

Out Now!

Made of Honor!

May 2, 2008, Columbia Pictures presented their Made of Honor. Starring Patrick Dempsey, Michelle Monaghan, Kevin McKidd, & Sydney Pollack this movie is sure to be a hit! It is about a man, Patrick Dempsey, realizing that he is in love with his best friend, Michelle Monaghan. Unfortunitly, his "I Love You" came to late. When he returns from realizing his feelings, Michelle drops the bomb that she is getting married. Ironically, she asks him to be her Made of Honor.

Since it has just came out today I have not seen it yet. However, I will let you know my thoughts on it right after I get a chance to see it. I can't wait!

The Best Thing About Romantic Comedies!

My main reason to love romantic comedies is because they have a little bit of something for everyone! No matter your gender or preference of movie type, there is something all romantic comedies have to offer.

Men never want to go see love sappy movies like The Notebook or Titanic. However, have a sense of funny personality added in makes it more interesting. Dane Cook is a populary comedian envied by many. His recent romantic comedies include Employee of the Month, & Good Luck Chuck. I have never heard a guy complain about those two movies yet!

Changing towards the gender of women, we always have our moods on what type of movies we want to watch at that time. It is never fair when men expect us to go see Fast and the Furious, while we really want to watch something a little less action filled. It is a lot easier to convince a man to go see a romantic comedy, than convience a women to go see a blood bath horror.

No matter what type of mood someone made be seeing a cute romantic comedy can be appealing to just a general audience, not just one gender. Go see a romantic comedy so there will not be any argueing tonight before the movie of choice is choosen!
